Clinton currently serves in State Government with the Administration of Governor Robert Bentley of Alabama. Prior to entering public service, he was the Director of Corporate Development, Mergers & Acquisitions at Intergraph Corporation, a leading provider of engineering and geospatial software. At Intergraph, Clinton helped lead the company through its $2.1 billion sale to Stockholm-based Hexagon AB. Prior to joining Intergraph, Clinton worked in investment banking and finance with Wachovia and Merrill Lynch where he focused predominantly on leveraged finance and real estate advisory services. He began his career at Ernst & Young in the Assurance & Advisory Division.
Clinton is an Executive Lecturer at the University of North Alabama and serves on the board of its Business School. Clinton holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he was a Joseph Wharton scholar and a BBA in Finance & Accounting from the University of North Alabama. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Jason has spent 18 years as an investor in both private and public equity. He also has extensive trading experience in equity and fixed income derivative securities. For the last 12 years, Jason has worked as an advisor, board member, and at the executive level of many growing companies helping with business development, capital raising, strategic partnerships, and licensing agreements. Currently he serves on the board of 3 private companies.
Jason worked at the Vice President level in New York City for both Prudential Securities and SG Cowen. He was a Managing Director of Pretium Capital Group, Inc. a Huntsville based investment banking firm, and a Portfolio Manager for Caxton Associates LLC, a New York based multi-strategy hedge fund.
Benjamin is an active venture capital investor and early-stage business advisor. He has extensive experience originating, structuring and executing equity financing and senior and subordinated debt financing to support buyouts, mergers, strategic acquisitions and recapitalizations. He assists companies in raising capital, recruiting management, developing cash/equity compensation programs and building scalable sales models.
Benjamin is an Associate at Eastside Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm focused on investments in the southeastern United States. Before joining Eastside, Mr. Cobb worked as an IT and healthcare consultant with the Namibian Ministries of Education, Finance and Health, founding the non-profit Promote Africa.
Benjamin holds a BA from the University of Georgia.
Luke is the co-founder of Conversant Bio, a biotechnology services company focused on the drug and biomarker development market. Prior to Conversant Bio, Luke was the Managing Partner of Blue Ridge Advisors, a healthcare consulting firm focused on capital raising and restructuring. Luke spent the first 5 years of his career with Wachovia Securities serving as Vice President of Wachovia's Strategic Advisory group and holding prior positions in the Healthcare Investment Banking group and Asset Securitization division. Luke's transaction experience includes mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and follow-on offerings, private equity financing, high grade debt financing, asset securitization, and conduit financing. He also has extensive experience in new product development, strategic partnerships, strategic sales, and marketing and public relations.
Luke has a BS in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University. Luke serves on the board of directors of Conversant Bio and Project Sharewood, a 501c3 non-profit serving Haiti.
Rich is a corporate partner and member of the executive committee of the Huntsville based law firm Lanier Ford. His practice is concentrated in the areas of corporate, securities, and technology. Rich routinely advises clients entering into private equity transactions and assists them in negotiating with venture capitalists and private equity sources. He has experience advising clients involved in mergers and acquisitions, including managing the selection of investor bankers, negotiating letters of intent, definitive acquisition agreements, escrow agreements, and related documents.
Rich applies his knowledge of technology to address intellectual property issues faced by business clients in various corporate transactions. He has advised clients regarding licensing strategies, technology transfer agreements, domestic and international technology licensing contracts, and technology development agreements.
Troy has over 17 years of experience in the development of biotechnology companies. He was the Director of Genomic Resources for Research Genetics, acquired by Life Technologies, Inc. He was the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer for Open Biosystems, Inc., acquired by ThermoFisher Scientific in 2008. Currently, Mr. Moore is the co-founder of Kailos Genetics, Inc., a Huntsville based biotechnology company focused on personalized medicine.
Troy has a BS from the University of Alabama, Huntsville.
Brian has 20 years of experience in start-up and biotechnology companies. He was the co-founder of Open Biosystems, and started the company with Troy Moore in July 2002, acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific in July 2008. As Open Biosystems’ CEO, Brian set corporate strategy, managed corporate assets and engaged in driving growth and bringing life science research tools to researchers around the world who are trying understand the function of genes and the roles they play in disease. Prior to founding Open Biosystems, he was with Invitrogen as the CIO and VP of Bioinformatics. From 1992 through 2000, Brian was Director of Bioinformatics and Information Technology at Research Genetics where he led a team of software developers and information technology professionals to build and support the data infrastructure and business systems to support the world’s largest producer of synthetic DNA and genomic research tools. Before joining Research Genetics, Brian was a founder of a software development firm and worked in the defense and electronics industries as a software engineer.
Brian has a BS in computer science from Athens State.
Marshall is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Conversant Bio, a biotechnology services company focused on the drug and biomarker development market. Prior to Conversant, Marshall was the Managing Partner of Blue Ridge Advisors, a boutique consulting firm that provided strategic advisory services to commercial and non-profit healthcare organizations in North Alabama. Marshall also worked for several years with Wachovia Bank’s private equity and leveraged finance groups where he funded buyout, recapitalization and expansion opportunities for healthcare, media and telecommunication companies. Marshall has extensive experience structuring senior and mezzanine debt, high yield bond and equity financing.
Marshall has a BS in Business and Accounting from Washington and Lee University.
Jamie is Chief Investment Officer of Smith Asset Management Co. (SAMCo), a Huntsville based private investment management company established manage capital exclusively for the family and foundation of Adtran founder Mark C. Smith. Previous to joining SAMCo, Jamie was a Senior Analyst and Investment Committee member of Parkwood Corporation, a Cleveland based private wealth management company and a financial analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.
He has an MBA from Case Western Reserve University and BA from The Ohio State University.
A 21 year veteran in the securities industry, John is Managing Director of Evans, Watts & Henshaw Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC. Since founding the Huntsville based practice in 2001, he has been providing investment advisory services to individuals, families and foundations. In addition to providing customized investment solutions to his clients, John has developed strong relationships with key Investment banking Professionals leading to the successful closing of multiple transactions within Alabama.
He graduated cum laude from Birmingham Southern College with a B.A. in Business Administration and Biology. John remains very active with his alma mater and is a member of the Board of Trustees currently serving on the Finance & Investment Committee.
Nathan is an associate with Silver Leaf Capital, a Huntsville-based hedge fund. He is also a consultant for Conversant Bio, a biotechnology services company focused on the drug and biomarker development markets. He is primarily responsible for web-based marketing campaigns and managing Conversant's e-commerce platform. Nathan has experience in business valuation, strategic planning, and early-stage development for start-ups.
